Swim Lessons

Well the girls started swim lessons on Tuesday and have them every evening for two weeks. Now that we are coming to an end of week one I am so exhausted. Getting home by 7 pm for baths and dinner is killing me. But we do what we have to do.

Alexis jumped right in. This is her third summer with the same swim teacher. On their first day they were jumping off the diving board. Alexis is still a little afraid, but I told her if she could do it on the second day that we would get McDonalds. And sure enough she did. I was watching her from behind the fence and she was a little reluctant, however I yelled "go" (I know I'm not supposed to be involved), but once I did that she jumped right in. :) She is really starting to work on taking a breath while swimming and using bigger strokes rather than just a doggie paddle. I am so proud of her.

Swim Lessons - Abby

The lessons are going great! Abby is in her class without me this year. She doesn't care much for having to go under water, but hasn't cried at all either. She is doing great. Looks like we will be working on our kicking this weekend in a pool.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a great and very busy weekend.

Saturday, we went to a fish fry out at Rodney's uncles property about an hour away. The girls had a blast and got to drive the golf cart (which was the highlight for them) on the property. We got out there about 12:30 and didn't get home until 6 pm.

Sunday, church in the morning and then we hosted a BBQ for some of the girls school friends that we don't see anymore (their kids changed schools) and another close family of ours. They had a blast. The food turned out great and everyone left around 9 pm. I made our families Layered Salad Recipe and it got rave reviews. Alexis tells me every day she is going to marry Dylan who was one of the friends that came to the BBQ. Too cute.

Monday, we got to go on a boat with some friends. Rodney and I are totally toasted from the sun. Ouch! And that was even after putting on lotion. Guess I need to wear SPF 50 with the girls next time. My lower back is killing me along with my arm from riding on the raft that the boat pulled behind it. Guess I'm not 20 years old any more. LOL Rodney and I took the girls on the raft first and when the boat slowed down I knew we were going to tip over (too much uneven weight I guess). I looked at him and said "Hold on to the girls, we're going over" and we did. The girls totally freaked out and did not like tipping over and cried until they got back in the boat. It was actually pretty funny to me and I couldn't stop laughing. We did a great job saving them, their hair didn't even get wet. It didn't help either that the water was very cold. Anyway, all in all it was a very busy weekend, but lots of fun.

I only have pictures from boating on Monday, but they are on my friends camera. So as soon as I get them I will post.

New with Blogging

So, I decided to finally join the world of blogging.

A day in the life of the Kirbie Family....
Last weekend was totally crazy. Saturday, Rodney had to work in the AM, I took the girls to gymnastics, then straight to a birthday party at the Museum of Science, then home by 2 pm for a nap. After nap we meet a friend at the mall to pick up some stuff then out to dinner at Alexis' favorite restaurant that she calls the peanut place, Texas Roadhouse. You eat peanuts while you wait and just drop the shells on the floor. LOL Home for a quick shower and in bed late around 9:30pm for the girls.

Sunday, up for Church, followed by lunch with friends and hot dogs on the grill, then back home for a quick nap, and I headed out to get my nails done. After the girls were up we went to my friends house to bring dinner to them since they just had their second baby. We of course stayed and ate with them since our kids are really good friends. I brought chicken enchilada casserole. Then home by 8:30 to get ready for bed and school and work the next day.

Oh Boy, what a weekend.
