Texas Performance and Ice Cream Social

the Kindergartners and 1st graders put on a Texas performance for all the families, followed by an ice cream social. Alexis is not much of a performer. She did not smile at all unless she looked at us and we kept telling her to smile. She did sing the songs and do the dance. All the kids were so cute. They sang songs like Home on the Range and did a dance to Cotton Eyed Joe. Adorable. I asked Alexis why she didn't smile more and her response was "she's shy". UGH! Guess we will have to work on that.

And with her best morning buddy, Mikayla. Her mom really helps me out in the mornings when Rodney and I both go in early. She has been a real life saver.

End of year Kickball Tournament

Alexis was in her first kickball tournament at school. I think a lot of them still didn't know what they were doing. When Ms. Murray's class was in the outfield, they were a mess. Almost all girls who had no clue how to get someone out. But that is ok, it is only kindergarten. Lots of years ahead to learn how to really beat them. The kids had fun and they were too cute to watch.

Getting their outfield assignments...

Waiting on third base...

Alexis' turn to kick...

Run Alexis! Run!

And she's safe!
A great game!

Camping at Lake Minderal Wells 5/16

Well it looks like we will have to go back to these campgrounds again since we only got one night and was then chased away from the rain. The first evening we got there, got set up, took the kids out to the swimming area at the lake and then had dinner. The rain hit about 2:30 in the morning, luckly Rodney woke me up to close all the windows before it hit. And oh boy did it hit. It rained very heavy all night, out tent was sure swaying in the wind and we had some water come in from the ground seams. It could have been worse as one of our families found out. They had a flood in their tent. Ours wasn't too bad inside, but bad enough that we decided to pack up and go home. Bummer. Hopefully we can go back soon to check out the trails as well.

Lets go swimming...

A little bit of rinsing off at the fish station... (and in the pants). I think the kids would have been happy here all day.

Sitting around the campfire..

The next morning. Notice the river running down the middle of our campsite.

And one of the shelters hit the dust. It just couldn't handle the rain.

We are the duck family. Rodney stole my red poncho, so I got stuck with Orange. what a horrible color on me. LOL

the group (or at least most of us)

Or mini hike to the bathroom in the rain. And found a cute photo op on the way.

Rodney packing up the truck....

The kids playing while we pack...

And with may stops to the bathroom, the girls had to dry their boots, poncho's and hair each time.

What good girls forming a line....

The worst part of all is I was really looking forward to all the food we brought to cook. We did end up getting together at Holly's house on Sunday to eat some of it so it wouldn't get wasted, but it just wasn't quite the same. and of course Sunday was Beautiful weather. Just our luck.

The Kirbie Crawfish Boil 4/16/09

Well we hosted our first crawfish boil. It was awesome. Lots of friends and kids to share it with. We ended up getting about 62 lbs of crawfish. (yes, my garage smelled disgusting). I of course did not eat any of those nasty things. We also had burgers, hot dogs and sausage.

Some of them were huge! EWE... And let me tell you they were not happy, one got Rodney pretty good and he ended up throwing in across the driveway. so funny! LOL

Tasha had this shirt made for Rodney. Of course it really says "Heads" LOL

digging in....

the spread.... We were so excited to have actually been able to clean out the garage to have enough room for the table and chairs.

Abby's last soccer game 4/4/09

My little Soccer Star. Well for the first time playing all the girls started out a little rough. They had no idea what to do and when we played the other team they pretty much just stood there. LOL By the end of the season a couple of the girls, Abby was one, started to really get a hang of how to play the game. She scored 4 goals in one game and 3 in another. She was a star. I was so proud of her. The only problem was that if Rodney took her she kept her head in the game for the most part, but when I was there, she was more interested in running out of the game to give me hugs and kisses. Rodney almost made me sit in the car so she would play. Most if not all of the games were played in freezing weather, so all the kids had to wear jackets and sweatshirs under their uniform.
Here are some pictures from her last game:

Go Abby, Go! Get that ball

Going in for the score:

She kicks, she scores!
The croud goes wild and she is so happy with herself.
Here she goes again for another goal.

Way to go team!
The most exciting part of all, a pizza party and a trophy.
So proud of her trophy
some of the team didn't make it to the last game.
So for the Fall Abby has decided to give Cheerleading a try. I can't wait to see how cute she is in her uniform. Fall Soccer is at the same time so she can't do both. We will probably do soccer again in the Spring next year. Alexis will however play soccer this Fall. I hope she does as good as Abby and doesn't cry if she falls down.
